A MINI-COURSE WITH REB SIMCHA RAPHAEL, PH.D.

DA’AT Institute for Death Awareness, Advocacy and Training and
author of Jewish Views of the Afterlife
This course explores Biblical narratives on the themes of living and dying, and
encounters with death and the world beyond. Through the lens of both contemporary
psychological and mythological understanding, we shall discover how our Biblical
ancestors learned to spiritual equanimity in the face of the human encounter with the
finite nature of human existence. Through study of Torah and Midrash, as well as
discussion and personal reflection, we shall discover wisdom relevant for dealing with
end-of-life issues and concerns in our lives today. Course topics include:
